It’s a story we’ve heard before. A young superstar makes a whole lot of money too fast, and through bad management or a belief that the rules no longer apply to them, they don’t pay their taxes.
“Nas” or Nasir Jones is on the list of celebrities who found themselves in deep trouble with the IRS. The famous rapper, actor, and musician has earned 9 Grammy Awards…along with one heck of a tax bill.
Taking into account all three tax liens filed by the IRS, the total amount he owed was roughly $6.5 million dollars. The state of Georgia was after him as well, and garnished another $1 million from his 2012 concert tour earnings to offset unpaid taxes for the years 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2010.
Interestingly, he was touring with Lauryn Hill, another Grammy Award-winning tax-evader who actually did three months in prison in 2013.
-Grammys don’t impress the IRS.
